Picnic at the park

This weekend we met up with our friends Annie, Justin and little Madeline for a picnic at the park. It was the highly anticipated first meeting between Joey and Madeline and they spent quite a bit of time checking each other out in the beginning...

Then we had some time at the playground - Madeline is almost a year older than Joey and can play with more things on the playground so there wasn't a lot of together time there either. But here's Joey on the swings...

Then on the slide under daddy's supervision...

By the end of the day, Madeline was willing to give Joey a goodbye hug. How sweet!

1-year photos

Last weekend Joey took some time out from birthday celebrations to do his 1-year photos. For his 6-month photos, we did the pictures at home, but since Joey is up and about now, we decided to take the shoot outside this time. Joey was in a great mood and we got a ton of cute shots. Let's party!

We celebrated Joey's 1st birthday yesterday with family and some of the friends that Joey has made in his first year. We had the party outside in our backyard (thankfully the weather cooperated) and the kids had a great time playing in the ballpit and on the slide and swingset. But the highlight of the party was definitely Joey digging into his smash cake - it was covered in red icing so you can imagine the aftermath...

12-month well check

Joey had his 12-month well check appointment this morning and here are his new stats:

Weight: 24 lbs., 10 oz. (75th percentile)
Length: 30.5" (75th percentile)
Head Circumference: 48.5 (95th percentile)

The big news out of this appointment is that we got the go-ahead to quit the bottle and start giving Joey whole milk out of his cup. This is definitely happy news for us since this is how we've resorted to feeding Joey the bottle in the last couple of weeks:

Fun at home

On days when Joey does not have anything on his social agenda, he likes to enjoy some fun time at home. He starts off the day with his morning paper, looks out the window to check the weather and then tops it all off with a dip in his ball pit (and yes, I was the one who vehemently insisted that our living room would never turn into Joey's personal playroom - so much for that!).
